In 2021 I gave fifty-two sermons, using exactly 58,418 words, an average of about one thousand words per Sunday. Using a word frequency calculator, I found the top words in the St. Hagop year in search were God, Church, Jesus; People, Life, Time; One, Word, First…Love (2x). I laid this out in a beautiful graphic word cloud with all 58 thousand words, size of the font determined by frequency of use (see below). I introduced it at our parish council meeting and it will be hung up and referred to during the entire year. The takeaway is that in our daily lives we search for transcendence, but are looking for it in all the wrong places, through wealth, power and beauty. Our Lord, our scriptures and the year in St. Hagop sermons remind us that the deepest things we are seeking can only be found in God, Church, Jesus; People, Life, Time; One, Word, First…Love.
