Following Jesus, his great disciple Paul continues this dedication to evidence-based faith.  This is especially clear in today’s assigned reading. ‘Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?’  Paul urges us to continuously look in the mirror of our faith.  Does the way I live my life look anything like the way Jesus lived his?  Is my Sunday worship just words, or marching orders to live by for the rest of the week?  Our Scriptures, worship, sacraments and traditions are all meant to be mirrors; spiritual self-tests we take regularly and seriously. And at this time of year, I want to dedicate the rest of my sermon to one very efficient, evidence-based test of our faith; that is stewardship, the season we enter into today.
