Robert George Koolakian, of Venice, Florida, passed away January 26, 2024. Born in Syracuse, NY. Robert graduated from Jamesville Dewitt High School. He went on to study History at Syracuse University and completed his Master’s Degree in Museum Studies in 1967 from Cooperstown Graduate Program. Robert worked at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan where he was the curator of the Edison Museum. He also was the curator of the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse, NY. Robert was active in many Armenian organizations and instrumental in establishing St. Hagop Armenian Church in Pinellas Park, FL. Robert wrote and published “Struggle for Justice” a book about the atrocities that his Armenian ancestors endured. He always shared his sense of humor and his love of history with those around him. He was interesting to listen to.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Nazik and Haig Koolakian. He is survived by his brother Charles E. Koolakian (Judy) and his three nieces, Cyndi (Patrick), Kim and Heather Koolakian and several close cousins and friends.
