The Sharagnots (Hymnal) of the Armenian Church contains a rich collection of hymns that extol the Holy Cross on which our Lord died. Bishop Daniel will discuss a selection of these hymns to reveal their rich theology, the light they shed on the death of the Son of God, and the importance of it all for the Church and faithful today. Bishop Daniel is past Primate of the Eastern Diocese (2018-2022), past Director of the Zohrab Information Center (2012-2018) and past Dean of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary (2001-2012). He is widely regarded as the world’s foremost scholar of the Armenian Church’s liturgical tradition. He has authored 13 books, dozens of scholarly articles and countless popular essays on aspects of Armenian Church liturgy, theology and spirituality. He has lectured in prestigious universities and academic centers throughout the world.
