Olympic Spirituality

Well it just so happens that in today’s assigned reading, we see that over 2000 years ago, the Apostle Paul was also an Olympics watcher. We don’t know if Paul thought the Olympics a relatively good or bad thing.  Paul did not spend much time talking about the relative good or evil of things in this world.  For him the Olympics, as anything in this world, was a human endeavor that, properly understood, reflects the Glory of God and the potential goodness of God’s creation.  Today we will look at the Olympics through Paul’s spiritual eyes, which hopefully will inspire us of the one true way to get ourselves and our world in better shape, physically and spiritually, as we take in this once every four-year spectacle.
